The web is full of crap
I’ve read a ton of blog posts over the last few years. I’ve also listened to hundreds of podcasts and video tutorials. Today, I’ve come to the conclusion that most of the web is full of crap.

There are a lot of extremely talented people with proven skills, a great track record, successful businesses and a huge fan base, but for some reason I just can’t believe everything I see.
Some say it’s best not to spend ANY money on a chair, others say it’s best to do work for free to get your name out there, and some say it’s best to outsource everything you can.
In my opinion, we are all wrong. No one knows the exact recipe to start a successful business. If there was such a thing – a magical recipe/formula/algorithm to building a profitable startup – people would be using it over and over and over, including our competitors, which means it wouldn’t work!
To run a successful business, whether it’s a web startup or a retail store, you need to figure out what works for you. What’s ironic is that I have no idea how to run a successful business, yet I can easily write about it. Who said my words weren’t crap either?
I think there are too many factors that come into play, for example: money, assets, partners, family, health, habits (and vices), experience… everyone’s situation is different, so how can there be a set way to start a successful business?
If an $800 chair allows you to spend 6 extra hours per day in front of your computer, coding or hacking away at your business plan, and eventually helps you launch 3 months earlier, then you can’t hide the fact that it’s a good investment.
Ultimately, I still appreciate reading other people’s insights, ideas and opinions, so please keep posting to your respective blogs (and commenting on mine), but keep in mind that no matter what we say, someone is bound to deem our words useless.
